Just WOW!... Joshavia & Thahir absolutely nailed this photoshoot and since it was my first time doing a photoshoot at the Botanic Gardens in a few years, it was so refreshing to hang out with this bubbly, giggly and happily in love couple!

Our shoot was a little unusual because Joshavia had actually won a completely free photoshoot from a little giveaway I was running.

It just worked out perfectly that she was recently engaged and looking to have the occasion beautifully captured with her husband to be... and of course, I was more than happy to help with that :)

Our photoshoot started out a little nervously... In typical Durban fashion, we had some clouds sneaking into our scheduled shoot time and it looked like we might get a little wet.

We decided to brave it and I made sure to have a couple umbrellas ready, just in case we needed to swap out sunny, warm, flarey photos for a more damp, drizzly (but still cute!) look.

As you can see, we got a bit of a mix between sunny and rainy as the clouds grew overhead but kept us dry so we could shoot to our hearts' content!

This actually worked PERFECTLY because the cloud cover really allowed us to make use of some of the open areas to give nice even lighting on my two models, and create a little moodiness in some of the more forested locations.

Despite it being Joshavia & Thahir's first ever photoshoot, they were complete naturals!

I usually like to give couples a little direction like, "walk toward me", "give a little twirl", "now's time for a quick kiss" etc so that no one feels awkward and wondering what to do next...

But J&T listened to about 2 of my prompts and then just continued on their own and forgot I was even there! Which makes my job of capturing their raw emotion and cozy moments just too easy! :)

How could you not love the Botanic Gardens when it looks this good, provides so many options for interesting backgrounds, is safe, and free to enter. What more could you ask for!

Durban has a wealth of beautiful locations for photoshoots, but this will always be one of my favorites because of how I have noticed couples feel more themselves without a constant stream of onlookers that you often experience at other locations.

The Gardens are usually pretty empty which means that it's easy to find secluded spots completely away from everyone else who may be out for a walk.

My only wish is that both Joshavia & Thahir had just as much fun creating their gallery as I did.

Since posting some of their photos to my Instagram, I have had 2 other couples reach out saying they would LOVE a shoot at the same venue, which I think is evidence enough that J&T's uninterrupted love and infectious smiles have made their way into the gallery to capture their beautiful memories forever!
